Aston partners with Pirelli

Like many Aston Martins before it, the companies first all electric model will be equipped with Pirelli P ZERO tires. There is no such thing as generic P ZERO tires anymore, instead each tire is created specifically for the model it is fitted to. The AM Rapid E will require different fitments for the two axels. These have been chosen specifically for low rolling resistance and noise cancelling.

Front: 245/35ZR21 (96Y) XL P ZERO
Rear: 295/30ZR21 (102Y) XL P ZERO

not entirely a fan of this move to a more specific setup as it will result in a higher cost to replace

For something that's expected to be priced around $250k, I'm not all that surprised that they are going with such premium tires. One of the main criticisms of the P Zero has been tread life, and with how the Rapid E is expected to perform I bet it'll be even more substantial here.

Owners of high end performance cars like this go through tire sets quickly regardless. Might as well maximize the performance capability of the vehicle rather than selecting a rubber that's designed to be durable.

It actually works to the brands marketing value as well as this specific product if you think about it. People shopping here typically favor these tailored approaches and see it as more of a reason to buy.

With plans to only build 155 examples, you can expect a lot of bespoke components. This model will also serve as a critical step as the company plans to reintroduce the Lagonda as a zero emission luxury marque.

take it with a grain of salt till buyers take delivery of these and Aston gets a real look at demand, its like Ford and the new GT, only recently they opened another order book process.

What Ford has done with the GT by increasing the number of allocations, is extremely rare. They are also very stringent with who they choose to sell to and buyers are forced into signing an agreement preventing them from flipping it.

Its even more damaging because now they're messing with the values of new GT's, flooding the market with more GT's means a lower used price point for them overall.

This hopefully should prevent the million dollar price tags we've been seeing on used models. Its completely absurd to me that people are willing to spend upwards of $1.7m on a car that costs $450k brand new.
